Chrysophyllum cainito, commonly known as star apple or the milk fruit, is a tropical fruit tree native to the West Indies/Caribbean Islands, Greater Antilles Central and South America. The milk fruit is now a popular fruit in Central America and Southeast Asia.
When a fully ripe fruit is cut, a milk-like juice comes out. Hence the name "milk fruit" The core of the fruit is star-shaped, which is why it's also called a star apple.
It has multi-coloured foliage, with the underside of the leaves having a silvery colour. Because of this it's a popular plant for landscaping.

Star Apple is a evergreen tree that can reach a height of 10 to 20 metres and a width of 10 metres. Its foliage is thick and symmetrical with a stout and short trunk.
