Fondly called the one-year jack, the Vietnam Super Early Jackfruit is a high-yielding variety of jack that fruits early, typically in the second year itself.
However, this does not mean its fruit is of inferior quality. It has firm, sweet, and crunchy carpels that are comparable to any other good variety of jackfruit.

Gone are the days when you planted a jackfruit seedling and waited for 7–10 years to know which variety of jackfruit it produced. With Vietnam super early jackfruit bud plants, you can start getting good quality jackfruit from the next year onwards.
The tree doesn't get very big, reaching a maximum height of 15 feet with a 10–12 foot canopy spread. Because of this, harvesting is an easy task. The harvesting of jackfruits used to be the most tedious task.
The Vietnam super early jack fruits in large numbers. It is best to keep the best 8–10 fruits, preferable one per bunch, till maturity and remove the rest as 'idichakka', or tender jackfruit, which is used as a vegetable. Otherwise, the overall fruit quality suffers.
The Vietnam Super Early could be planted in a 10x10 feet space. However, for best results, the recommended planting distance for commercial cultivation is 15 feet.
Ensure well-drained soil for planting, else it is prone to fungal infection.
Vietnam Super Early is perhaps the only variety of jack that can yield fruit in a container. Vietnam super early jack can be grown in large containers of 120 litres or more. It can be grown anywhere, including terrace gardens, provided it gets sufficient sunlight.
Vietnam super early has two fruiting seasons in a year. The carpels of Vietnam super early are sweet and firm and have a pleasing aroma. Its outer skin is thinner, its gum is relatively less, and it has a higher edible part to fruit weight ratio.
There are different variations of Vietnam Jack depending on the colour of the carpels. Yellow and Orange-Red are common.
The fruit does not become very large, usually weighing 7–8 kg.
